Dramatic and inspirational!

Fairer Than Morning - The Saddler's Legacy
by Rosslyn Elliott

An intriguing novel from a new author!  It is so well written that I was surprised that this is her first novel!   The imagery in this book was exceptional and I could easily visualize the historic surroundings as the story dramatically unfolded.  I found the storyline to be so suspenseful at times that I could not put it down.  How fun it is to read a historical Christian romance that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Although some of the subject matter that the author tackles is daring and dark in nature she has managed to balance it with a depth of Christian writing that makes the book a moving and inspirational read.  The faith of the characters is beautifully developed and their spiritual growth is encouraging and thought provoking.  Just put yourself in the position of the main character, Will, and ask yourself if you could forgive the horrors he endured.  Or put yourself in the position of the main character, Ann, and ask yourself if you could be so kind and hospitable.

I am curious about something though, the subtitle of the book is "The Saddler's Legacy".  Does that mean this will be a series?  Oh, I hope so, the author seemed to leave the door open to be able to continue the "legacy" of this story!
Disclosure: Litfuse Publicity Group provided me with a complimentary copy of this book as part of their blog tours program.  See the blog tour schedule here.

About the book:

Ann dreams of a marriage proposal from her poetic suitor, Eli-until Will Hanby shows her that nobility is more than fine words.

On a small farm in 19th-century Ohio , young Ann Miller is pursued by the gallant Eli Bowen, son of a prominent family. Eli is the suitor of Ann's dreams. Like her, he enjoys poetry and beautiful things and soon, he will move to the city to become a doctor.

Ann travels to Pittsburgh , accompanying her father on business. There she meets Will Hanby, a saddle-maker's apprentice. Will has spent years eking out an existence under a cruel master and his spirit is nearly broken. But Ann's compassion lights a long-dark part of his soul. Through his encounters with Ann's father, a master saddler, Will discovers new hope and courage in the midst of tremendous adversity.

When the Millers must return to Ohio and their ministry there, Will resolves to find them, at any cost. If Will can make it back to Ann, will she be waiting?

Carrie, thank you, thank you for this review. I saw it when you posted it on Amazon a few days ago, and it instantly became one of my favorites! I love it that you gave such a balanced and well-written description of the content, and of course I also find it very uplifting that you liked it so much! Novels take so much hard work in solitude that it can be a challenge to keep going, but finding readers like you makes it worthwhile. :-)
