Will the World End in 2012? By Raymond C. Hundley, Ph.D

Will the World End in 2012? By Raymond C. Hundley, Ph.D

So what’s with all the hype about the world ending in 2012? Is there any validity to any of the popular theories? That’s exactly what this book sets out to determine. Ten theories are briefly analyzed and conclusions are made.

The book is subtitled “A Christian Guide to the question everyone is asking”. This is an unfortunate subtitle because this book is certainly not only for Christians. The analyses of the ten theories are relevant for everyone interested in the subject. After reading this book my concerns are not that the world will come to an end, but that life could change drastically from devastating solar storms, earthquakes, and volcanoes.

I chose this book because I was curious about the theories, not because I fear that the world will end in 2012. I personally believe that the end of the world cannot be determined because the Bible says that “no one knows the day or the hour” that it will happen (Matt 24:36). With that said, I also believe that before Jesus returns this world will see much greater devastation. The Bible says in Matthew 24:7-8 “The nations and kingdoms will proclaim war against each other, and there will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this will be only the beginning of the horrors to come.”

It makes me want to do three things:
• Study my Bible more so that I can better explain to people why I have absolutely no fear for what is to come
• Listen to my hubby when he says we need more survival gear
• Go see the movie 2012, although I’m pretty sure that my hubby will think this is a training video which will then increase his chatter about needing more survival gear!
