Psalm 22

Scripture

Psalm 22

verses 30-31 Future generations will also serve him. Our children will hear about the wonders of the Lord. His righteous acts will be told to those yet unborn. They will hear about everything he has done.

Observation

For this Psalm, I was formulating in my mind how I was going to discuss that this is on of the many Psalms that are clear references to Christ. This one is about the agony Christ experienced on the cross.

Then I got to the last two verses and was stopped in my tracks. Why will our children serve the Lord? Because they hear about the wonders of the Lord. How will they hear about these wonders? Because it is our responsibility as Christian parents to teach our children the Word of God.

Even two year olds can memorize scripture and understand what it means. When I say Genesis, my little ones who just turned two, will say one, one! How cute is that! When I ask Sam, who is still 2 himself, who made the trees, sky, moon, Mama or whatever he answers "God did". I am trying to lay the foundation of God and His Word very early so that they can be rooted in the Word much sooner than I was.

Application

I need to put a higher priority on our preschool learning and get back into our daily routines that include time for school and family devotions. I love the website that we use for our preschool curriculum because it is Biblically based. I encourage all of you who are interested to check out this site hubbardscupboard.org

Prayer

Lord, thank you for bringing me to an unexpected path today. I knew that this Psalm spoke about Christ, but what I did not expect was to be shown my mistake in putting school aside for awhile. Thank you for reminding me how important it is to teach our children about you and to give them the same love for you that I have. Please help me to get back into our school routines and help me to maintain them.
