Psalm 21

Scripture

Psalm 21

verses 1-2 How the king rejoices in your strength, O Lord!
He shouts with joy because of your victory. 2 For you have given him his heart's desire; you have held back nothing that he requested.

Observation

When we pray we generally are asking God to fulfill our desires or requests. God will always answer our prayers in His own time and to fulfill His purposes, and sometimes the answer is No! But often our prayers are answered and if we can recognize that they have been answered then we should shout for joy.

Application

We should pray with a purpose, intentional prayer is the easiest to know when prayers have been answered. When prayers are answered we need to remember that in our joy, all the praise and glory belongs to God. He provides for us and answers those prayers.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for hearing our prayers. Please help me to pray with more purpose and open my eyes to see how prayers are answered. Verse 13 of this psalm says what I want to:
We praise you, Lord, for all your glorious power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.

Thanks for posting this! Since my journey to discover my relationship with God is very, very new to me I have been simply praying to God and turning my will and my life over to him so that I can more radily know what his will for me is each day.

When I was younger I used to pray for only the things that I wanted. Then of course I would be disappointed when God "did not answer". I am getting it now... that God answers as he answers.. not always the way I want him to!

Carrie, do you do this bible study with others? How does one begin? I would love to get more structured when it comes to reading the bible. Can you explain how you do it? (I hope this is not a weird or silly question, as I said I am new to learning about the bible... sadly I never realized the importance when I was younger.)
